WINNIPEG — One person was killed in a crash with a gravel truck Friday morning on Winnipeg’s eastern edge.
Emergency crews were still at the scene at the east Perimeter Highway and Gunn Road at 10 a.m.
The driver of the car was killed, RCMP said. The driver of the Mack gravel truck that collided with the car was not hurt.
The large dump truck was in the ditch with the badly crumpled remains of a black car in front of it.
Police said Gunn Road from the Perimeter to Redonda Street was closed; southbound traffic on the Perimeter was down to one lane.

On October 18, 2013 just after 9:00 am RCMP East District Traffic Services as well as local Fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of East Perimeter and Gunn Road. Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation also attended to assist.

Initial investigation indicates a Mack gravel truck collided with a small car.
The driver of the gravel truck was not injured.
The driver of the car perished in the collision. The name of the deceased will not be released
An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst is assisting with the investigation.
Alcohol is not a factor in this collision.
