Veteran Canadian actor Nicholas Campbell (Da Vinci’s Inquest) plays a park ranger and Eric Balfour (Haven) plays a mysterious outdoorsman in the drama, written and directed by Montreal’s Adam MacDonald.

“My goal is to make the shower scene of bear attacks, one the audience will never forget,” explained MacDonald, in a press release. “Nothing hits us harder than our primal fears and they will be on full display.”

Backcountry, which was funded by Telefilm Canada and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund, is scheduled for release next year.
