Calgary police release images of suspect, name of victim in morning Evergreen shooting

Calgary police have identified the woman declared dead at the scene of a shooting in the Evergreen neighbourhood in the city’s southwest.

CPS said Nakita Baron, 31, died on the scene. A man remains in hospital in life-threatening condition following the morning shooting.

An autopsy for Baron is scheduled for Friday.

At 8:20 a.m., police blocked off the cul-de-sac on the 100 block of Everwoods Court S.W. ​Police later said they found two people in a parked vehicle in medical distress from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.

Police believe an unknown man approached a vehicle parked in a driveway before firing shots into that vehicle. Police say that man left the scene in an SUV that appears to be a late model, black Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Late Thursday, police released images of a suspect involved in the shooting.

The man is described as between 25 to 35 years old, approximately 5-foot-8 to 6-foot tall, a medium build and last seen wearing a dark blue hard hat with a black hood, a bright orange T-shirt with a yellow reflective vest, and dark-coloured pants.

Police are asking anyone with information or CCTV footage to contact police at 403-266-1234 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
