MONTREAL – A 50-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after a stabbing in Riviere des Prairies.
He did not offer any resistance during the arrest and according to police, there were no previous calls to this address.
Police were called to a home on Perras Boulevard after receiving a 9-1-1 call at around 9 a.m.
They discovered a 33-year-old woman who had been repeatedly stabbed in the upper body.
She was transported to hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead at 10:30 a.m.
A Montreal police spokesperson has confirmed that a child was found uninjured at the scene.
The 18-month-old girl is in police care until either youth protection services or a family member take her into care.
