Bixi loves Montreal bus and métro users

MONTREAL РMontreal bus and m̩tro users are getting discounts on the Bixi bike-sharing service.

The Société de transport de Montréal and the Public Bike System Company, the private firm that runs Bixi, announced on Monday that:

  • Starting June 20, people who buy a monthly STM pass will pay half price for a monthly Bixi membership. They’ll pay $14, instead of the normal $28, for the Bixi service. On top of membership, Bixi users pay bike usage fees if they borrow bikes for more than 30 minutes at a time.
  • Starting June 20, anyone who buys an annual Bixi membership will get an Opus card with six STM tickets on it.
  • Starting May 31, people who opt for the STM’s annual-pass subscription, will get a 75-per-cent discount on Bixi’s annual membership rate. They’ll pay $19, instead of the normal $78.
  • The Bixi service features 5,000 bikes at 400 self-serve rental stations in eight boroughs. Among the stations are 12 near the following métro stations: Champ-de-Mars, Berri-UQAM, Saint-Laurent, Lucien-L’Allier, Beaudry, Papineau, Frontenac, Mont-Royal, Laurier, Outremont, Rosemont and Jean-Talon.
