St-Hubert restaurants start eco-friendly initiative

MONTREAL – Its yellow sign is instantly recognizable in this province, but now St-Hubert BBQ is actually going green.

On Tuesday, the restaurant announced that it will begin collecting compostable materials.

The initiative is the first of it’s kind for a Quebec restaurant chain.

“Although daring, this program fits perfectly with our company’s sustainable development plan and reflects our philosophy in terms of innovation,” said Jean-Pierre Léger, President and CEO of St-Hubert Group.

St-Hubert sends about 2,800 tons of leftovers to composting per year, which they say would otherwise result in landfills.
