N.S. party leaders make final pitch for votes ahead of election

HALIFAX – Nova Scotia’s political party leaders are focusing their final pitch to undecided voters ahead of tomorrow’s provincial election.

Liberal Leader Stephen McNeil says his party needs to win seats throughout the province, including seat-rich Halifax, a bastion of NDP support in recent years.

McNeil says undecided Nova Scotians should assess each party’s platform and determine whether their promises are doable.

He is wrapping up a three-day tour where he is aiming to visit all but a handful of the province’s 51 ridings before ballots are cast.

NDP Leader Darrell Dexter is asking voters to give his party another chance, saying his government has learned a lot during its four years in power.

Dexter says the federal shipbuilding contract, a balanced budget and fewer emergency room closures are among his government’s achievements and there is more to do.

Dexter is campaigning in several key ridings in Halifax and along the province’s south shore.

Progressive Conservative Leader Jamie Baillie travelled to his hometown of Truro, where he agreed there was a large group of undecided voters across the province.

But he says voters have decided on one thing — that it’s time to get rid of the NDP.
