TORONTO – Is Sparky a sex addict? Is Randy being a little more, well, randy? Well it might be time to have “the talk” with your pet and pick up some pet condoms.

The San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals launched a tongue-in-cheek marketing campaign to promote awareness of the importance of having pets spayed or neutered.

The ‘Animal Instincts Pet Condoms’ campaign features a satirical website with various messages about the importance of preventing pregnancies in dogs and cats.

“Put it on before they get it on,” reads one of the messages.

Click on the instructional video on how to put a pet condom on your animal and a message pops up. “C’mon, there’s only one real fix. Spay or neuter your pet.”

Social media users had a chuckle on Twitter over the mock campaign.

Even a fake condom dispenser was erected at a San Francisco park as part of the campaign.
