TORONTO — Canadian singer Alanis Morissette is calling allegations by her former nanny “hurtful” and “cruel.”
Last month, Bianca Cambeiro filed a lawsuit against the 39-year-old Ottawa native and her husband Mario Treadway, claiming she wasn’t paid overtime and was denied breaks while caring for the couple’s son Ever Imre.
Cambeiro — who worked for Morissette from August 2011 to March 2013 as the overnight nanny — claimed she was instructed to never leave the child unattended while he slept.
Her lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles, seeks $30,000 in overtime wages and $100,000 for emotional distress.
On Wednesday, Morissette tweeted: “grateful for all your heartfelt support around these hurtful and cruel allegations. truthfulness will prevail i love you, x a”
Morissette, who married Treadway in May 2010, welcomed their son on Christmas Day in 2010.
