In-Depth: Integration Frustration

For several years, special needs children in Quebec have been integrated into public schools – but can the system handle it? Some parents say their children are suffering at the hands of a school board that doesn’t understand.

More than 10% of students now have special needs at the English Montreal School Board (EMSB). On one side, parents are worried their kids are falling through the cracks. On the other, schools are struggling to do the best they can.

In this two part special series, Global Montreal looks into understanding Autism and the EMSB. Paola Samuel reports.
