RBC donates money to Remai Art Gallery

SASKATOON – A donation from the Royal Bank of Canada will help emerging artists at the new Remai Art Gallery of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.

RBC gave a $250,000 to the gallery on Friday.

The money will also go to support the ‘artists by artists’ mentorship program that teams senior artists and professionals with emerging artists.

Those rising stars will then get to see their work on display at the new art gallery.

“We’re really excited about this announcement because it will give us some of the resources and support to continue the program into the future,” said Troy Gronsdahl, coordinator of the program.

“Many of our emerging artists go on to pursue higher education or continue to show their work in Saskatoon or outside the region.”

Construction is currently underway at the $74.2 million gallery located at River Landing by Persephone Theatre.

Canadian Architect magazine awarded its 2011 Award of Excellence to the design of the building.

The Remai Art Gallery of Saskatchewan is scheduled to open in 2016.
