North Vancouver RCMP said officers were called to the parking lot of the Real Canadian Superstore at 333 Seymour Blvd. shortly before 3 p.m., where they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds.

The man died at the scene, police said.

“We want people to know that North Vancouver is safe, but we understand this is very alarming,” North Vancouver RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Peter DeVries said.

“Based on the investigative theory in this initial phase, this incident does not appear to be a random act.”

DeVries said it was too soon to say if the killing was gang-related.

RCMP urged the public to stay away from the Superstore near the Second Narrows Bridge, as they respond to the incident.

Mounties warned of serious traffic delays “particularly on the Second Narrows / Ironworkers Bridge southbound and its feeder routes.”

Photos from the scene showed a black BMW with its lights on and licence plate covered, along with multiple evidence markers distributed in the surrounding area.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation has taken conduct of the case.
