Farmer finds marijuana hidden in oat field

Someone in western Manitoba has been sowing some very wild oats.

RCMP say a farmer in the RM of Shellmouth-Boulton, north of Riding Mountain National Park discovered marijuana plants growing among his oat crop in a field of roughly 20 acres.

The farmer notified the Mounties of his find Saturday.

Police say the plants were near harvest stage, and with the help of the farmer and Manitoba Conservation, seized 146 marijuana plants without damage to the surrounding crop.

No charges have been laid. The investigation continues.
