TORONTO — Andy Herren, who was crowned the winner of Big Brother 15 on Wednesday, said the house didn’t smell as badly as some viewers might have thought.

“For the most part, the odour of the Big Brother house wasn’t too offensive,” said the 26-year-old, who won $500,000 after 90 days on the show.

“In most areas of the Big Brother house it didn’t smell too bad unless GinaMarie was farting in the room, and then it could smell bad,” Herren told The Roz & Mocha Show on Toronto’s KiSS 92.5. “The bathroom smelled terrible and we had a weird small fly infestation in it. In the backyard we had weird whiffs of sewage every once in a while, which was terrible.”

Herren said he’s upset about being caught up in the backlash over racist comments in the house and denied making any insensitive remarks.

“I was guilty by association because I was in the room when someone said something and apparently I laughed at one of them,” he said. “I made it a point to not say things like that. I didn’t like those comments and I did not condone that.”

Herren also denied reports that he lost his teaching job at College of DuPage as a result of the Big Brother controversy.

“They released a statement saying that I was not currently employed with them and my views didn’t reflect the college, which is the truth,” explained Herren. “I work on a contract-by-contract basis and I declined my contract for the summer and fall, so I was essentially not their employee while I was in the house this summer.

“I’m really hoping they will see that I’m not this horrible racist like people are saying — and I never actually said anything racist — and they will be happy to give me my job come January.”

Herren was asked  by KiSS 92.5 if McKranda — Amanda Zukerman and McCrae Olson — will live happily ever after now that the show is over.

“Hell no! Oh my God, no way at all,” said Herren. “I bet they’ve forgotten each other already, like on their flights home.”

Herren said he likes both Zukerman and Olson.

“I feel bad saying it but I do not think they are the best match for each other and I do not think they will last too long.”
