SGI is rewarding people learning to drive with $250 gas cards if they track their in-car hours during practice.
Drivers are asked to keep track of their in-car hours during education sessions. SGI suggests learner drivers log at least 36 hours worth of driving during their learning period in different types of driving conditions. The learning period lasts nine months. Information learner drivers record during the practice sessions will help prepare them for their road test.
After submitting their practice logs from the year SGI randomly selects 10 winners from around the province. SGI hopes the program will be an incentive to help young drivers gain more experience behind the wheel which leads to safer roads.
In order to be eligible for the 2010 program, learner drivers must submit their practice log with 36 completed hours to the driver examiner at their road test or mail it to SGI.
