Leduc man charged with attempted murder

EDMONTON- A 23-year-old Leduc man is facing numerous charges, including attempted murder, after a woman was severely burned in an apartment fire last month.

On Monday, August 12, RCMP and Leduc Fire and EMS crews were called to a fire in the Cedar Woods apartment complex. A 25-year-old Leduc woman was found suffering from severe burns, and taken to the University of Alberta Hospital for treatment.

RCMP say the initial investigation showed the woman’s burns were accidental. However, after an extensive follow-up investigation, RCMP now believe the victim’s boyfriend had intentionally set the woman on fire after violently assaulting her.

Tyrell Lee been arrested and charged with:

– Attempted Murder
– Assault
– Aggravated Assault (two counts)
– Uttering threats (four counts)
– Arson with Disregard for Human Life
– Uttering Threats Against a Person (three counts)
– Failing to Comply With Probation Order
– Breach of a Court Order

Lee appeared in Leduc Provincial court on August 15. He remains in custody and his next court appearance is scheduled for October 17.

The victim’s name is not being released.
