Calgary police appeal for tips after laser pointed at two flights

CALGARY – Police are investigating after a laser was pointed at two different commercial flights landing at the Calgary International Airport, on Tuesday night.

A blue laser was pointed at the planes around 9 p.m., and although pilots weren’t able to accurately pinpoint where it was coming from, police say they have narrowed it down to the northeast community of Whitehorn.

Officers say the blue colour of the laser is not very common, so they’re hoping someone may know the suspect.

Police believe it could be the same person since the incidents happened so close together.

Just last month, police charged a 19-year-old man for after he allegedly pointed a laser at the HAWCS helicopter.

Michael Sanche is facing charges of assault causing bodily harm, mischief causing danger to life and common nuisance endangering life.
