Emergency services were called to the scene just after 10:45 a.m.

Police said a small plane landed on the eastbound lanes, just east of the Woodbine off-ramp.

The plane had originally taken off from Buttonville Airport and police said it experienced mechanical failure a few minutes into the flight.

“Good foresight in respect to the pilots involved to be able to find a safe location to put the airplane down. Did that with no damage to the airplane,” said Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.
