TORONTO – Montreal baseball fans will get a special treat in 2014 as the Toronto Blue Jays plan to play a pair preseason games in La Belle Province next spring.

According to media reports, the Jays will slug it out against the New York Mets at the Olympic Stadium in the end of March.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The team is expected to make the announcement official Tuesday in Montreal.

Montreal has not hosted a Major League Baseball (MLB) game since the Expos were relocated to Washington following the 2004 season.

However, questions are being raised on whether Montreal’s Olympic Stadium can be suited for baseball in a “park” that has since been used sparingly for Canadian Football League and soccer games.

MLB has declined comment on the series.
