Victoria Police have confirmed DNA from a Surrey man is not that of Michael Dunahee.

Police obtained the DNA sample after a tip from a member of the public that a Surrey man bore a striking resemblance to Dunahee.

The man said he had no prior memory to Grade 1, and believed there was a possibility he could be Dunahee.

Dunahee went missing in 1991 from a playground with his parents nearby. There’s been no trace of him since and the disappearance has become one of B.C.’s most infamous missing persons cases.

Police say they have notified both the man and the Dunahee family of the results and that they remain committed to the case.
