IHIT investigates ‘suspicious’ death in Coquitlam

COQUITLAM – The RCMP Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called in to probe a suspicious death after a man’s body was found Monday inside a residence at a Coquitlam trailer park.

RCMP were called to the Wildwood Mobile Park on Cayer Street around 11 a.m. regarding a "suspicious circumstance."

IHIT spokesman Cpl. Dale Carr said when officers arrived at the scene they found a man already dead. There is no word on how the man died.

In a news release Monday evening, Carr said police had an idea of who the victim was but had not confirmed his identity.

Police cordoned off the area and planned to interview neighbours.

At the scene Monday, officers had covered the trailer’s window in a green tarp. Police cordoned off the road surrounding the home where it’s believed a couple lived, according to a neighbour.

Several police officers were also searching the west part of the entrance to the mobile home park.
