A dashboard camera captured a horrific crash in South Africa that killed a reported 22 people and led to homicide charges.

The crash happened in Pinewood – a suburb of Durban – Thursday night, when a truck sped through an intersection and plowed through several vehicles.

The truck smashed into four minibuses full of passengers without slowing down before landing on top of a car.

Initial reports put the death toll at 27, but that was later revised to 22.

Chris Botha, spokesperson for Netcare 911, a private emergency assistance service, told eNews Channel Africa 19 people died at the scene.

A further 32 people were injured, but 11 people “escaped with relatively minor injuries,” Botha said.

The 22-wheel truck was travelling from Johannesburg to the Port of Durban when it sped through a red light on the M13 highway and into intersecting traffic at about 9:00 p.m.

Police arrested the driver and charged him with culpable homicide.
