The Winnipeg Police Service says they have charged a man in connection with a 2020 fatal shooting at a convenience store.

Police say on Sep. 1 they arrested an 18-year-old male from Winnipeg in the Nov. 16, 2020 death of 18-year-old Wade Donkey.

Investigators believe the accused and the victim were at a convenience store in the area of Ross and Elgin avenues when they got into an argument that ended with Donkey being shot.

Police say the accused and Donkey did not know each other personally.

First responders found Donkey in critical condition and he was taken to hospital, but later died.

The accused, who was 17 at the time of the incident, has been charged with second-degree murder and detained in custody.
