REGINA – Police have charged a 47-year old man with several charges after a standoff Tuesday forced six schools in Northwest Regina to be put on lockdown.

Lance Antoyne Thomas Poitras of Regina has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Early Tuesday afternoon Regina police responded to a home on 6th Avenue North to negotiate with Poitras. He was wanted after threatening a 49-year old woman on Monday night at the same house.

Poitras made his first court appearance Wednesday morning.
