MONTREAL – The suspect in Quebec’s election night shooting is due in court today to have a date set for jury selection.
Richard Bain faces 15 charges, including first-degree murder.
The 62-year-old is accused of killing one man at a Montreal concert hall where the Parti Quebecois was celebrating its provincial election win last September.
Premier Pauline Marois was making her victory speech during the attack and later said she believes she was the intended target of a political attack.
In his last court appearance in May, Bain waived his right to a preliminary hearing, sending his case straight to trial.
Denis Blanchette, 48, a stagehand was fatally shot, while one of his colleagues, Dave Courage, was seriously injured outside the concert hall where Marois was speaking.
