EDMONTON- The Stanley Cup made an appearance in the Capital Region Wednesday evening.

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Ryan Stanton brought the cup home to St. Albert for the day.

After winning the cup with the team in June, Stanton says it’s an awesome feeling to be able to share it with his family, friends and the entire community.

“St. Albert’s definitely been an awesome place to me,” he said. “Just trying to share it with as many people as possible and it’s definitely a cool experience and one you kind of grow up dreaming of as a kid.”

Dozens of people came out Wednesday to have their picture taken with the cup. St. Albert resident Dave Tougas brought his seven-week-old daughter along for a picture inside the cup.

“When I was a kid I got a picture of me with Mark Messier and the cup,” he said. “I was there once so I had to keep the family tradition alive.”
