Motorcycle crash closes northbound Main Street

WINNIPEG – A motorcyclist is in critical condition after he crashed on Main Street, closing the northbound lanes from Bannatyne Avenue to Market Avenue through the morning rush hour.

Police said they were called about the crash just before 3:30 a.m.

Witnesses said the motorcycle was speeding down Main Street when it hit the median and the rider flew off, possibly hitting a planter.

The 20-year-old rider was taken to hospital in critical condition.

All four northbound lanes and one southbound lane were closed from 3:30 a.m. until almost 9:30 a.m.

Buses were rerouting along Rorie Street between McDermot Avenue and Market.
