The fire reportedly started around 8:30pm on Hôtel-de-Ville avenue near Mont-Royal on the second floor of the three story building.
There were around 100 firefighters on site struggling to extinguish the fire.
They contained it around 11pm as neighbouring homes and buildings were evacuated.
One firefighter suffered a heat stroke while another injured his hands and neck.
Neither are in critical condition.
The Montreal fire department says they have yet to determine the cause of the fire, but are not ruling out arson, given how fast the blaze spread.
Arson investigators are already set to examine the site.
