As cases continue to stay low, Dr. Robert Strang says Delta variant cases are causing outbreaks in Canada and other countries.

“Until at least 75 per cent of all Nova Scotia have two doses, measures like masks and indoor physical distancing need to continue,” said Strang in a COVID-19 briefing.

As of Wednesday, 75 per cent of all Nova Scotians have either received their first dose or booked to get one. About 1,400 people recieved their first dose the day prior.

“We need to see these numbers continue,” Strang said.

He said he’s watching other countries, like the United Kingdom, where Delta variants account for most of their cases spreading in unvaccinated populations, and that’s not something he wants to see happen in the province.
