TORONTO — Canadian rapper Drake is going into the BET Hip Hop Awards with 13 nominations, it was announced Thursday.
The Toronto-born star is up for Best Hip-Hop Video (“Started From the Bottom”), Lyricist of the Year, MVP of the Year, Best Club Banger (“Started From the Bottom”), Best Featured Verse (“Versace”) and People’s Champ Award.
Drake’s “Started From the Bottom” is nominated for Track of the Year — an award given to producers — and the rapper is featured on a pair of songs nominated for Best Collaboration (“Poetic Justice” by Kendrick Lamar and “Problems” by A$AP Rocky).
Kendrick Lamar leads the nominees with 14.
Snoop Dogg will host the awards show, which will be taped Sept. 28 in Atlanta for broadcast on Oct. 15.
