REGINA – RCMP are investigating the death of a 6-year-old boy on the Kahkewistahaw First Nation.
Yesterday evening shortly after 10:00 p.m. Broadview RCMP received a call from the child’s caregiver reporting that he hadn’t been seen since 8:30 p.m.
At 10:20 p.m. RCMP received another call of an injured child on the Kahkewistahaw First Nation.
When investigators arrived they confirmed that the injured child was the same one reported missing earlier in the evening.
The child was brought to the Broadview hospital where he was declared deceased.
Investigators say the death is suspicious due to the nature of the child’s injuries.
Now assisting with the investigation are Regina RCMP Forensic Identification Services, Regina RCMP Police Dog Services, Yorkton Tribal Council Child Family Services and the Ministry of Social Services.
The boy’s family have been notified of his death but his name has not been released. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday.
