CALGARY- A strange telephone scam is making the rounds in Calgary.
Police say they have received numerous reports over the past few days of people being contacted by a man claiming to be from the “Calgary Police News Magazine.”
He aggressively asks people to place ads in the magazine, demanding personal information about the victims and their credit card numbers.
The calls have been traced to Woodbridge, Virginia, and the call display reads 403-168-7441.
Police says the “Calgary Police News Magazine” does not exist, and that they do not solicit advertisers.
Anyone who receives a phone call is asked to try and get as much information about the caller as possible, then report it.
