17-year-old boy killed in motorcycle crash

HALIFAX – A 17-year-old motorcyclist has died from his injuries following an crash on Highway 102. Halifax Regional Police say they were called to the accident near the Kearney Lake Rd. ramp around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The boy was found in the woods near the road, after being being thrown from the motorcycle. He was taken by ambulance to the QEII Health Sciences Centre but died from his severe injuries. Police have not released the name of the teen, but say he was from the Bedford area.

The motorcycle accident in the outbound lane contributed to another accident in the inbound lane. Police said it appears the driver of a truck slowed down to see the motorcycle accident and was rear ended by another truck. Both vehicles were seriously damaged, but the occupants did not incur serious injuries.

Police were on the scene until 1 a.m. Thursday investigating the motorcycle accident.
