Aerosmith’s Calgary date expected to be postponed

CALGARY – While its yet to be confirmed officially, an insider with the Western Canadian leg of Aerosmith’s concert tour says that the rock band’s Calgary show, scheduled for Aug. 13 at McMahon Stadium, will very likely be postponed.

The Guitar Hero sponsored tour with ZZ Top was put in jeopardy Wednesday when singer Steven Tyler slipped and fell from a runway at an Aerosmith concert in Sturgis, SD.

Tyler, 61, is said to have broken his shoulder in the fall, in addition to suffering head and neck injuries.

Keystone Entertainment, the promoters booking the Western Canadian gigs on Aerosmith’s tour, confirmed that dates in Winnipeg and Regina would be postponed, probably until mid-September. At press time their was no official announcement on the Calgary show, or dates in Edmonton and Vancouver, but it was expected that they too would be postponed.

Speaking to an Illinois radio station on Friday, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry said that the tour would likely be on hold “from four weeks to two months,” depending on Tyler’s recovery.

This is the latest calamity on a tour that has been plagued with problems.

A string of dates were canceled earlier in the tour when Tyler tore a leg muscle. Meanwhile guitarist Brad Whitford sat out the first few weeks of the tour after suffering a head injury and bassist Tom Hamilton also checked out needing to recuperate after a non-invasive surgery.
