Lots of flood cleanup still needed along Calgary riverbanks

CALGARY – Although a considerable amount of cleanup and restoration has been done in Calgary following devastating flooding in June, there is still a lot of damage to local infrastructure that remains.

The City of Calgary has identified 130 erosion sites along the rivers, totaling approximately 35 kilometers.

“The first priority has been to make sure they’re stabilized,” says Rob Spackman with the City of Calgary. “For some of the more critical ones, we’ve been monitoring them on a daily basis to make sure they’re staying where they are.”

The second step, according to Spackman, is to decide which ones to fix.
