REGINA – Tuesday will mark three years since a triple homicide stunned a north Regina neighbourhood, and police are still looking for answers.

The Htoo family, 31-year old Gray Nay Htoo, 28-year old Maw Maw and three year old Seven June Htoo were found dead in their Oakview Drive townhouse by their landlord on August 6th 2010.

“It was a horrific day for me because we’ve never had an occurrence like that in Regina,” said Staff Sergeant John Walker, who has been on the case since day one.

“Someone out there that thinks they have some information that we might not be privileged to, we are hoping that they will provide that to us,” Walker added.

The probe into the death of the family is one of largest investigations ever carried out by Regina police. A number of investigative strategies have been used. The week after the murder, area residents were given a questionnaire that asked “did you have any involvement in the murder.” On the one year anniversary, a message in the Burmese family’s native language was released to the public. These, and other strategies, have lead to progress.

“We have arrested individuals on this case, and we have let them go, and we are still actively working on it,” Walker said.

While the case remains unsolved, the department insists it hasn’t gone cold. Officers are still assigned to it, and are actively searching out any information that could bring it to a close.

“It’s a file that’s very complex, and it’s required a lot of work,” said Acting Chief Bob Morin. “We believe that we’re going to solve this homicide.”

“It is personal for me,” added Walker. “We wear the investigations that we become involved in because we want to hold the people responsible to account.”

Police are also reminding people that it is never too late to bring information forward and if you have any that may help solve this triple homicide you are asked to call police at 306-777-6500 or Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
