Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle on Highway 16A near Stony Plain

Highway 16A was shut down in both directions west of Stony Plain on Thursday evening after police said a man walking on the road was killed when he was hit by a vehicle.

An RCMP spokesperson said the driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene.

Police said the officers were called to the scene at 5:37 p.m. They added that the highway was expected to remain closed for several hours while police investigate what happened.

The RCMP said no charges will be laid in connection with the death.

The crash in Parkland County happened about 25 kilometres west of Edmonton.
