Bow River still filled with dangerous debris after flood

CALGARY – The fire department is warning Calgarians about a dangerous stretch of the Bow River.

A man rafting on the river had to be rescued on Monday afternoon, after his vessel got snagged on a tree stump near the Louise Bridge.

The Fire Department says the pair, who was wearing lifejackets, suffered minor cuts and bruises – but warn it could have been much worse.

They caution that flimsy inflatable rafts aren’t suited for travelling on the Bow River right now, because of the rough water and dangerous debris left behind after flooding in June.
