Council approves redevelopment of Stadium Shopping Centre

CALGARY – The City of Calgary has approved the redevelopment of the Stadium Shopping Centre in the city’s northwest.

Western Securities developed the Stadium Shopping Centre on former farmlands in 1962 and has remained the primary landowner since then.

They say the strip mall on the corner of 16th Avenue and Uxbridge Drive N.W. will be transformed into a mixed-use hub with retail, residential and office space – as well as a hotel.

Some residents in University Heights had expressed concern over the redevelopment plans, saying it will lead to higher density and too much traffic in the area.
