Man escapes unharmed after suspicious fire in Chambly destroys house

MONTREAL – Investigators are at the scene of a massive blaze in Chambly after a fire in a vehicle spread to a house, causing significant damage.

There were no injuries reported. The resident, a man in his 50s, escaped from his home on Doody Street unharmed.

Firefighters said that the fire started in a pickup truck at around 12:15 a.m.

It was parked in the driveway next to the house and the flames quickly spread.

Officials evacuated several other homes in the area as a precautionary measure.

The house was completely destroyed and investigators described the fire as suspicious, although they have not confirmed the cause.
