Firefighters injured battling house blaze caused by arson

SASKATOON – Three Saskatoon firefighters were injured battling a house fire caused by arson on Tuesday morning.

Crews were called to the fire located at 432 Avenue G South at 2:02 a.m.

When they arrived, the front of the house was fully involved with flames extending to the soffits.

An aggressive interior attack was started but firefighters were forced out by the conditions.

The fire was contained to the single structure.

Two firefighters were sent to hospital with heat exhaustion and a third was also taken to hospital with light smoke inhalation.

All three have since been released.

Damage is pegged at $350,000.

Investigators have determined the cause of the fire to be arson.
