MONTREAL – After fighting for his life, a pilot has died following an ultralight plane crashed in northern Quebec on Monday afternoon.
The small plane crashed around 4 p.m. on Monday in a small wooded area near the town of Val d’Or along Chemin Pont-Champagne, about five hours north of Montreal.
Firefighters arrived quickly to the scene to battle the ensuing fire and the pilot was transported to hospital.

Th pilot was the only person aboard the plane and he suffered serious injuries in the crash.
“We fear for his life,” said Quebec provincial police spokesperson Audree-Anne Bilodeau.
“He may also have been burned in the fire after the crash.”
Bilodeau also confirmed that the Transport Safety Board is conducting an investigation in conjunction with the Surete du Quebec.
The pilot has not been identified.
