Sask. Indian Institute of Technology appoints new president

SASKATOON – Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) has appointed Riel Bellegarde as their new president on Wednesday.

Bellegarde was formerly the Regional Director General at Indian and Northern Affairs Canada for the Saskatchewan Region and has over two decades of public service experience.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Whittmore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire.

“I’m honoured and excited at the prospect of working with students, faculty, staff, the Board of Governors and leaders in the public and private sectors to help SIIT fulfill this vital mandate,” said Bellegarde.

Bellegarde is a member of the Peepeekisis First Nation in southern Saskatchewan.
