HALIFAX – Three Halifax-area beaches are closed to swimmers until further notice.

The city announced Wednesday that Kinsmen Beach at First Lake in Sackville is closed due to high bacteria levels. Black Rock and Dingle beaches are closed as a precautionary measure due to wastewater overflows.

The overflows can lead to temporarily elevated levels of bacteria in the harbour, so the city is also recommending that people stay out of other areas in the harbour for the time being.
