Health Canada issues recall on Baby Einstein jumpers

OTTAWA – Health Canada issued a recall notice Tuesday for the Baby Einstein musical jumper, made by Kids II, citing concerns one of its attachments could pose an injury risk for small children.

The notice identifies the yellow sun part of the jumper as the source of the recall, saying it could rebound with enough force to injure an infant.

The recall affects about 8,500 products sold in Canada. In total, 400,000 products sold in North America, all of which were manufactured before November 2011, are being recalled as part of a joint effort by Health Canada, the  U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Kids II.

Kids II is advising customers to stop using the jumper immediately, and is offering a free replacement as part of the recall.

The products were sold at Sears, Target, Toys R Us, Walmart, Costco and other retail stores, and online at Amazon.com.
