Ward 6 includes the communities of Aspen Woods, Christie Park, Coach Hill, Cougar Ridge, Discovery Ridge, Glamorgan, Glenbrook, Glendale, Patterson Heights, Signal Hill, Springbank Hill, Strathcona Park and West Springs.
It is home to the west LRT, which opened in 2012 after several years of construction.
FAST FACT: Ward 6 is one of the fastest growing wards in Calgary.
Current Councillor: Richard Pootmans is seeking his second term.
THE CANDIDATES
He sits on several city hall committees and has served on numerous community boards. Pootmans is married to Frances Wright, CEO and publisher of MOMpreneur® magazine.
Pootmans is concerned about traffic congestion in the ward and would like to see improvements made to Highway 8 to discourage short cutting through the ward’s neighbourhoods. He also advocates for more infrastructure and community programs.
