Ward 3 is in the city’s northeast and includes the communities of Martindale, Saddle Ridge, Skyview Ranch, Taradale, Coventry Hills. Panorama Hills, Harvest Hills, Country Hills and Country Hills Village.
It is divided in two by Deerfoot Trail, with newer communities on the east side and more established communities to the west of Deerfoot. Ward 3 is the most populated ward in Calgary, accounting for over 22% of the city’s growth in 2010. It is home to Calgary International Airport.
FAST FACT: Ward 3 has the highest number of carpoolers in the city.
Current Councillor: Jim Stevenson has represented Ward 3 since 2007.
THE CANDIDATES
Stevenson sits on several civic committees and is vice-president of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association.
He was president of the N.E. Calgary District for the Conservative Party of Canada for seven years.
