For nearly a decade Suzy has been keeping her eye on the sky. She started her broadcasting career in Southern Ontario as a forecaster under the direct tutorial of one of Canada’s leading meteorologists. Providing live updates in all kinds of weather conditions including some close calls tornadoes. She enjoys the challenges that the Alberta weather pattern brings and has decided to call Central Alberta home.
In addition to her world of weather, she produced and hosted a half hour live afternoon program that included such topics as farming and gardening, child rearing, finances, live call in, sports and leisure and even dared to take the cameras with her while she went skydiving and wing-walking. She has also hosted a one hour issues based program that was considered to be the main source for topics and discussions relevant to the community which featured 4 different guests daily. She found hosting infomercials to be fun and interesting. In addition, she has produced and hosted videos for United Way. Stampede Central, a live, collective effort that kept fans of the Calgary Stampede updated daily, was an enjoyable ten day hosting run that kept Suzy in touch with her country roots.
Suzy also loves to keep involved with the community and organizations. She has emceed countless events and charity fundraisers ranging from dog shows and boat races to Children’s Hospital Telethons and the annual Easter Seals Telethon, and has acted as a key note speaker and guest speaker for many functions including public and high schools. A few other organizations that Suzy has been involved with include the Humane Society and Animal Aid, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, The Terry Fox foundation, The Aids Committee, The Canadian Cancer Society, The Red Cross, Mission Services, Crime Stoppers and Police Services, Community Living, and a motivational speaker to young women entering high school. Currently she sits on the National Board as a Director for The Thyroid Foundation of Canada. She is proud to have been recognized and awarded for outstanding community involvement but is even more proud of the countless volunteers that make these services possible. She will keep you informed on these and many other organizations as host of “Close To Home”, a weekly segment dedicated to informing viewers of upcoming events and resources available here in Red Deer and surrounding communities.
“I consider myself to be very fortunate. I have a close and loving family, and a tremendously supportive man in my life. I get to do what I love and to work with some of the most outstanding people in the world.”
