Meantime, the Calgary Fire Department rescued a woman from the Bow River Saturday afternoon.

One woman was able to swim to shore, but the other grabbed on to a tree and was unable to get to the riverbank.

A rescuer, attached to a safety line, climbed on to the tree and secured the woman.

They were both then pulled to the shore by the Aquatic Rescue Team.

The fire department is warning Calgarians that while the Bow River is open for recreational activity, conditions remain dangerous and unstable.
