HUBBARDS, N.S. – RCMP in Nova Scotia are investigating a fatal crash on Highway 103, near Hubbards.
One person was killed, after two vehicles collided, near Exit 6, at approximately 10:45 a.m. Saturday.
RCMP say it appears the driver of a maroon-colored van travelling eastbound swerved into oncoming traffic and hit a large SUV with six occupants.
The driver of the van, 75-year-old Myrtle Veinotte from Beech Hill N.S., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four of the occupants in the SUV, who are believed to be from Toronto, were injured. Three of them were taken to hospital in Halifax in critical condition.
An 87-year-old man died later that night.
According to Global Halifax’s Cory McGraw, the roof of the SUV had to be cut off, in order to remove at least one occupant.
In addition to the RCMP, Emergency Health Services, the Hubbards Fire Department and Life Flight responded to the scene.
That section of Highway 103 is now re-opened to traffic, and the investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
